About Our Company
Luyanda Mining is a Level 1 BBBEE company established in 2006, having experience in various business sectors such as civil; mechanical & electrical engineering works, steel fabrication & supply, telecommunications, and petroleum. Luyanda was established as a close corporation back in 2006 by Khumalo brothers – Ntokozo and Ayanda, then was later converted to a proprietary limited company in 2013. Having grown over the years, we have employed over 35 people.
Luyanda is a home of mining, trading, and shipping of minerals, founded and operating in the Southern Hemisphere of Africa (SADC). All our minerals are shipped to various destinations, including Asia, Europe, and many other parts of the world.
We offer solutions across a diverse range of minerals sourced from different countries within the SADC region. Our operations encompass mining, trading, and exporting, facilitated through strategic partnerships.
Trading, Mining & Distribution
Luyanda Mining is actively involved in the mining, trading, and distribution of key minerals across Southern Africa, supplying both regional and international markets.
Manganese
We mine and supply Manganese Ore (ROM 40–65%) from Luapula Province in Zambia. This product is supplied to established trading partners and is primarily exported to Asian markets via the Port of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Chrome
Our Chrome Ore (ROM 30–38%) and Chrome concentrate (40%+) are sourced from the North West Province in South Africa. These products are supplied to select clients for both local processing and export markets.
Coal
Coal is sourced from Mpumalanga Province, South Africa, with ROM grades ranging between 23–27 CV. We currently supply more than five clients on a monthly basis, with volumes ranging from 30,000 to 65,000 tons.
In support of long-term supply, Luyanda has secured mining permits equivalent to:
Approximately 6 million tons of coal
Around 500,000 tons of chrome in South Africa
Two copper mining permits in Zambia
Five manganese permits in Zambia
Processing & Logistics
Our coal mining operations are located within a 10–40 km radius of established processing facilities, including wash plants and coal processing plants in the Witbank area. This strategic proximity enables efficient processing, reduced turnaround times, and consistent quality control before delivery.
Products can be supplied under various commercial arrangements, including Free on Truck (FOT) and other customised terms, depending on client requirements. This flexibility allows us to meet diverse operational and logistical needs across our client base.
